The Children Of Russia - Pitch

During the nineties, the Russian government began the first secret tests on humans, genetically modifying two babies. Now in 2013, with the program shut down sixteen years ago, they have grown into genetically enhanced super killers designed to serve the needs of the Russian Secret Service. Conceived to be the perfect genetic pair, Artur and Vera survive together alone in the world whilst carrying out missions. Their lack of emotions brand them as perfect assassins, but in a world of cross-corruption they trust no one but each other. After a series of wrong killings and being stuck taking care of recently orphaned Riku; Artur and Vera are suddenly the target of a web of organisations.

The film will open with a fast paced and ruthless assassination of Russian traitor [1]Olga in London. They are intercepted after the killing by MI5 who capture them, imprisoning them in a safe house. Artur and Vera escape and flee back to Russia. They are instantly placed into a mission shadowing the Vice President of Russia. He is shot dead along with his wife, leaving their only son, Riku in the reluctant care of Artur and Vera. Whilst escaping numerous attacks that leave them fleeing through Europe, they learn that the Russian government are shutting them down, and that the Vice President was their defence. Lying low in Iceland, Artur and Vera find themselves becoming more human and childlike exploring the area. Riku reads that Russia are offering a $10 billion reward for the pair brought back alive. He tips the Russian Government and collects the reward. Before the pair are executed, Riku exposes the government’s plan to the entire world, every killing and every mission, the number of babies that died in the process of genetic modification. Artur and Vera are freed by armed guards organised by Riku and find that Moscow has been divided in Civil War. At the helm of the rebellion is Riku. A giant battle occurs where Artur and Vera are given their final mission, to kill the President. They successfully kill him and the government fall. Riku assumes the role of the president in the new Russia and frees Artur and Vera who move to Iceland to live out the rest of their lives.

The Children of Russia is a social comment on the early maturity of children within the age of information. It explores themes like: life and death, sexual and intellectual maturity and international relations and the effect they have on society. Artur and Vera’s assassinations are going to be portrayed as both shocking, entertaining and thought provoking, much like the rest of the film, generally filmed in the style of a thriller. Ultimately it poses a question to the characters and audience members, in an age of information and security who do we trust?

Great planning, an interesting concept that incorporates several threads and develops them effectively. I see shades of Hanna, Salt, Bourne and others but you have managed to make the theme your own with a wealth of detail. Well done. Target: What is the [1] ?
